Châteauneuf d'Entraunes is a small village, perched in the heart of the vast territory of the high valley of the Var river, between the Daluis red shale gorges and the Cayolle pass (2326 m).
Owing to large number of paths you will discover various landscapes, like the throat “Soucha Négra”, an ancient dam supplying irrigation canals or the Barlatte Mill with water, and you will enjoy family paths starting from the village.
Taking a track of seven kilometres long and 52 GR A, you can also reach the remarkable hamlet of Tourres, opening the view on the highest peaks as Aspre peak where it is situated an old astronomical observatory or the majestic peak of Pal (2818 m).
During one day of hiking, the loop, taking you to the hamlets of Barel, will lead you into central part of the Mercantour National Park, whether by Gardivole, one of the many places, abandoned nowadays or by Bouchanières and “Sylva Longa” forest.
Between rich and varied flora and fauna, accessible to everybody, and the legacy of the ancients who shaped the landscape during long time, you can enjoy today and all year round these great natural spaces for relaxing or different kinds of physical activities.
